Even though Hamlet is perceived to have a beneficial relationship with his mother, King Hamlet’s death and her sudden marriage to her brother-in-law are reasons to question the validity of some decisions over others. Metaphors in “the slings and arrows of outrageous fortunes…against a sea of troubles” (Shakespeare III.i.3-4) are purposeful to highlight Hamlet’s uncertainty in comprehending and internalizing perplexing events. Hamlet’s predisposition to foreboding disaster and temperament is justified when taking into context of medieval lives. Quickness in marriage cemented royal power in light of death, yet validity of such decision-making is questionable. Furthermore, Gertrude’s neutrality to Claudius and Hamlet’s brewing distrust of each other proves to anger Hamlet into mental stability as incest seems to be the forefront of his depiction of Gertrude.…

We Admire Hamlet As Much For His Weaknesses as for his Flaws Hamlet is composed of an amalgamation of both strength and weakness, and this is evident throughout ‘The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark’, by William Shakespeare. At heart, the titular Hamlet is a noble, selfless and clever young man; but as the play progresses, his emotional volatility, and inability to act swiftly, contort this perfect image.
