How Does Hazel Grace Portrayed As A Dynamic Character

I just finished “The Fault In Our Stars” by John Green, and I found it to be hilarious, romantic and utterly heartbreaking. Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has been struggling to determine how to live her life and to find meaning in it. I felt myself cheering for Hazel, a dynamic character, who changed from a depressing girl who was obsessed by the impact her death will have on those around her, specifically her parents. Thus, in the beginning of the novel, she deliberately keeps her distance from potential friends so that her death could not hurt them. As the novel develops, Hazel meets a positive boy named Augustus Water who changes her outlook on life dramatically to one who cherishes and feels extremely grateful for the moments and time that she spent with those who love her and whom she loves: She wouldn’t trade the pain of losing Augustus for the comfort of never having fallen in love with him.

Hazel is described by using motivation, dynamic, direct and indirect characterization throughout the novel. A description of direct characterization of Hazel is that she rarely leaves the house, reads the same book again and again, rarely eats, and spends all of her time thinking about death. Hazel knows that she isn’t going to live long, so she desperately wants to alleviate the harm caused by her death. Hazel’s personality is revealed here as courageous and thoughtful. This is also an indirect

In this book the two main characters Gus (Augustus) and Hazel are both cancer patients who eventually find love in each other by both connecting to this horrendous disease; however, later in the book we find out about how Gus ends up dying leaving Hazel in a depression. In the very end Gus leaves a eulogy for Hazel when she dies, but instead Hazel cherishes this gift as way of remembering Gus. This just comes to show no matter what happens you can always cherish your love you had with somebody even if they had passed. From a personal standpoint I can back this rule because if you really enjoy being around someone you learn to never forget them, but instead cherish every moment you had together. Back when I was around six or seven my great grandma had passed away from ALS (a.k.a.…

The crucible essay (Arthur Miller) effectively used characterization in his writings, “She hates me uncle, she must, for I would not be her slave. It's a bitter woman, a lying, cold, sniveling woman, and I will not work for such a woman!.” (Miller) shows characterization by sharing the different emotions. The author writes characterization “Uncle, we did dance; let you tell them I confessed it - and I'll be whipped if I must be. They're speaking of witch-craft Betty`s not witched.”…

With this characterization it tells you what the character is feeling and thinking. For example, in the story it shows what the characters were thinking in the quote “Dirty towels! Not much of a housekeeper, would you say, ladies?”(Jury 5) . That example from Susan Glaspell's Story Jury of her Peers shows how the character thought that because the towels were dirty that Mrs.Wright didn't clean the house a lot. Another example is “Starts to speak, glances up, where footsteps are heard in the room above.…
