Hamlet wants to revenge his his father’s death, but Hamlet had to find out a way to get his uncle to confess. King Claudius has taken over the throne, but also has married Queen Gurtrude. One night the ghost of King Hamlet comes to Prince Hamlet and is telling him how he was killed and Hamlet says to his father's ghost “Haste me to know’t, that I with wings as swift as meditation or the thoughts of love may sweep to my revenge” (I. ii. 34-37). Prince Hamlet is idealistic now about killing King Claudius now that he knows he killed his father.
