The animals in Animal Farm were unaware of the harsh decision because of lies excuses, and propagandas stated by their leader Napoleon, which corrupted their government.

Napoleon lied multiple times in the book Animal Farm ,by George Orwell, to gain dominance and persuade the animals to believe him. For example, when the windmill was destroyed by a huge storm Napoleon lied and stated that his rival Snowball knocked it down and destroyed it. Later on in the book the animals caught Napoleon sleeping in a bed, where it was forbidden that any animal shall sleep in a bed with sheets. Napoleon lied and said that a bed is just like a bed of straw that the animals sleep on, where it still was forbidden because the sheets that are on the bed are human made and broke the seven commandments. For example, the moment when Snowball was ran off the farm by Napoleon he was considered a traitor and a rival to Napoleon. Where Snowball was neither of these things but the animals believed it because Napoleon had stated this, he was the leader and he had power. No matter what Napoleon stated the animals were forced to say "Napoleon is always right" and eventually this brainwashed the animals to state this all the time. When Napoleon and the other animals made the seven commands there were many propagandas played like "four legs good two legs bad" where this wasn't actually true it was just that Napoleon had stated this and they were forced to believe

If you pay attention closely throughout the parts we have read so far in “Animal Farm,” many leaders are trying to manipulate others to follow them and trust their decisions over others. Two big example that have stood out more to me than others, is how Napoleon manipulated Squealer. (Pages 56-58) When Snowball was chased out of the farm, Squealer constantly backs up Napoleon's word. He was always telling other animals about his good ideas, but more importantly he was manipulated when he told everyone the idea of the windmill was Napoleons. (Page 58).…

Words can change how people view others and things. Animal Farm is a perfect example to illustrate how the use of words can manipulate the animals into slavery. Different strategies, used by Napoleon and Squealer, persuade the animals into thinking that they were doing right by them. They use words to control the animals which is often done in the real world by people like politicians. Without the power of words in Animal Farm, the rebellion would have not taken place and Napoleon would have never became the leader.…

An example of this is when four young pigs attempt to protest but are quickly brought to a halt by the dogs intimidating growls, “ ...all four of them sprang to their feet and began speaking at once. But suddenly the dogs sitting round Napoleon let out deep menacing growls” (69). The dogs intimidating and threatening growls prevents them from continuing their protest against Napoleon’s decision to no longer have meetings. Although many of the other animals couldn’t organize their thoughts to also object or at least challenge Napoleon’s decision, the four young pigs could have helped the others come up with an argument had they not been silenced by the dogs of which were under Napoleon’s command. Another example of how Napoleon uses fear and intimidation to control the other animals is when he begins to execute other animals.…
