How Does Footloose Relate To The Author's Character

The protagonist of Footloose is Ren McCormack a spunky teen with a bit of a mouth on him; I would say that he is a strong protagonist. This is due to his personality and the choices he makes throughout the plot. We see that not all the choices he makes are good ones as well as him being labelled the town troublemaker just for being who he is. His personality lends to his strength as a protagonist mainly through his temperament, and how he relates to other characters. Ren is not quick to temper, like his friend Willard is, but instead he uses heavy sarcasm and wit which usually get him into trouble. This wit adds depth to the character showing that he is smart and quick on his feet but he is not given the chance to often to show this as he is usually called out and shut down before he can say anything more. The differences in his temperament can be best observed in …show more content…
He starts out in the town trying not to get noticed and fit in but soon finds that that is near impossible for him to do, instead he decides to be himself. Throughout the play we see Ren stick to his belief that what he is doing is for the good of many people in the town. As the new kid he lacks bonds with others that most people would rely on to start a ruckus such as trying to repeal a law, instead he is brave and sticks his neck out alone trying to help people. Despite his good intentions we do still see Ren make mistakes in his choice of action and choice of words. We often get to see that he has flaws like any other person and that his actions are not always seen as the best thing to do in a situation. During Somebody’s Eyes we see Ren get in trouble again and again for misunderstandings that could easily have been avoided had Ren realized that situation he was in and taken other action. All of the choices he makes combine together to show his character flaws and strengths in total making him a fairly strong

In the book, "Bonecrack," by Dick Francis the character I would like to be the most is the main character and protagonist, Neil Griffon because he is courageous, hardworking, and loyal. Enso Rivera, the antagonist of the story, puts his authority to the test on Neil and Neil does the unthinkable by putting the stable and others before his own life, saving himself, the stable, and the people around him.
