How Does Edward Bloor Use Flashback In Tangerine

In Tangerine, a book of lies, the main character Paul Fisher tries to find the truth but who can he trust? When his family moves to Florida, he must move to a new school and make new friends. Paul has always know his brother as a bully but his parents think Erik is the golden child. With his parents against him, Paul turns to his new friends on the soccer team. As weird things start happening, Paul has a hard time believing that he got his ‘coke bottle’ glasses by staring at an eclipse. Paul starts questioning everything his family has told him. This tale based in Tangerine, Florida has acts of friendship and mystery sure to have you hooked. On page 3, he quotes, “The baseball bat smashed into the mailbox exploding it right off its pole... Erik. He tried to kill me.” This was the first flashback in the novel. It let the reader know that Erik was not who he seemed. Then again on page 263, “I remember Eric's fingers prying my eyelids open while Vincent Castor sprayed white paint into them.” These flashbacks reveal what happened to Paul's eyes.
