The impact of drunk driving on themselves, and with everyone else's lives, drinker or not, greatly affects the community or area you're in. In the video, “Lives Affected”, it gives a bigger back to the picture of drunk driving. When you are drinking it affects your impairment. Judging speed the distance and other common things are twisted when you're under the influence, along with your basic motor skills. It only takes 20 to 40 minutes for alcohol to reach your brain. When anybody's alcohol concentration level is .08 grams, you can have a chance of getting in a crash by six times compared to if you were just sober. These victims had aunts and uncles and grandparents who were affected. In the very last story even the driver fled the scene when the incident happened.
Leaving Chris with the paramedics seeing his wife's last breath and dying along with their unborn son. When he got hit on the impact he turned around to see his lifeless nine-year-old daughter. After the incident it affected their son when he had to tell him his mother died. After the incident both of them felt like they were in a bad dream and they were afraid of losing each other next. At the very end Chris adds that volunteering to drive or taking the keys from a drunk person could save a family. Not only does it affect the people who were injured or died but the people around them.. It affects communities and friends and extended family. The saddest part is that all of these lives that were lost could've been prevented. Drinking and driving has a big toll on everyone including the drinker. There are laws broken and DUI’s you can receive when getting caught in this stupid act. The saddest part is how common it is and how unnoticed can sometimes be.
