A lot of children have witness the tension and physical abuse between their parents. This is a very bad thing because is the children’s around the world are witnessing this dangerous crime it going to grow into them thinking it is ok to fight woman because their own parents was doing it. It is also very disturbing to recognize that young children are more likely to witness incidents of violence than older children. Due to the fact that the younger children follow whatever you do not knowing if it is right or wrong.
When this happen a lot of people know what is going on but doesn’t want to interfere with anyone’s relationship. To me this is very self-centered, you should always report a crime for the other person’s safety. Maybe that same person will thank you later for getting them out of an abusive relationship. These are scary problems in society because a woman will stay in an abusive relationship due to the fact that she is in love with her significant other. She doesn’t know better plus she is blind to what is going on so it is best to report these crime around the world to stop violence against

This week’s readings introduced many aspects of crime that touch closer to home. Many students may be reading this same textbook, though I expect that we relate to these topics differently, some grasp our attention more and others, standing to be more significant to our lives and fears. This week we were introduced to the economic repercussions of crimes along with the fear of knowing that some serial murders are so cunning that they simply seem to disappear. The reason many types of physical crimes are more feared for some individuals is the simple fact that it takes work to earn the things they chose to purchase.…

Parenting of Parents “Behind every young child who believes in himself is a parent who believed first.” by Mathew Jacobson. Positive parent-child relationships provide the foundation for children’s learning and to maintain that parents should have a good understanding between them. “My Father’s Life” by Raymond Carver and “The Rake: A Few Scenes From My Childhood” by David Mamet both author’s briefly discussed their parent’s relationship with each other and with their children. According to me that was not a healthy relationship in both stories, I strongly disagree with that kind of behavior with children and between husband and wife.…

“It is not easy for those who have had happier childhoods, with little restraint or fear in them, to face up to the truth of this childhood of Richard Wright.” After Richard Wright published his autobiography, a critic said people with easier childhoods could not fathom what a childhood like Wright's would be like. This statement is wrong and unfair. There is no way someone could know exactly what a harsh childhood is like if they did not have one. One can imagine, even if they have never experienced something for themselves.…

People in the Northeast are at a likelihood of about 19 per 1000 people for becoming victims of violent crime as compared to the Midwest, the South and the West at about 20 per 1000 people. The variation is slight yet it shows there is a degree of variation in the rate of victimization. When it comes to property crimes, the difference is much more noticeable. Property crimes in the Northeast are at nearly 86 per 1000 people compared to about 112 per 1000 people in the Midwest, about 116 per 1000 people in the South region, and a significant difference of 153 per 1000 people in the West. There could be many reasons for this, including differences of organized crime in different parts of the country as well as the wealth distribution among the people of each different region.…

Crime rates in the United States have been steadily dropping since the early nineties after having been on an upward trend since the sixties. They reached a historical peak in 1992 and from 1993 to 2000, the U.S experienced an unexpected 48% and 51% drop in violent and property crime rates, respectively (U.S Dept. of Justice). Many researchers have tried to explain this sharp drop in crime, but there seems to be a lack of consensus on the most influential factors. On one side, there are researchers who believe that most of the reduction of crime was due to changes in enforcement in addition to improving economic factors. On the other side of the debate, there are those who believe that the fall in crime rates was due to an environmental factor, attributing most of the fall to the reduction of lead exposure after the late seventies.…

According to Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network (RAINN) about 293,000 people are raped in America each year and 98% of rapists will never spend a day in jail (RAINN). This was very surprising to me. The reason that 98% of rapists will never go to jail is because society will blame the woman for something that was not her fault. Laila and Mariam, two Afghan women who are the main characters in Hosseini’s A Thousand Suns, are victims are both sexual and physical abuse. They are brought together by traumatic events in their lives.…

In 1990, President George W. Bush signed into law the Clery Act. This Act requires that higher education institutions submit yearly data to the DoE regarding designated crimes on campuses. A recent study found that universities reported approximately 44% more rapes during their audit period. After their audit period, these numbers dropped to an almost indistinguishable number. By studying these theories, one is afforded a chance to develop and then test potential solutions to this enormous social problem that has afflicted humanity since the beginning of time. The various ways of deterring, controlling, preventing, and punishing crime throughout history has changed drastically. Attempting to attack the problem of crime head on, has not worked; so developing different ways to learn why, adapt, and address the root causes of crime is the current strategy. One very important point is that the structural frameworks and contributions from both classical school of…
