Targetting children in advertising is a problem with many potential solutions. Some say it should be banned altogether, others suggest that more restrictions should be implemented, and some believe that America's advertisers have a right to market their products however they see fit. It is my belief that aspects from each argument have merit, and that it should be the responsibility of America's parents and schools to teach children about the effects of marketing, both positive and negative. Advertisement is not inherently malicious.…

Kids are affected by the advertisements they are exposed to. The reason I say this is because of all the research I have done. On certain websites advertisements can have little rewards. In “Marketing To Kids Gets More Savvy” there is a quote stating,”While on the Webkinz site, Sweet recently clicked once a day for seven days… each day she clicked it and answered three questions, she earned a virtual lime-green dresser and a bulletin board for her Webkinz.” From the website creator's point of view, I can see this being a great idea.…

Marketing to children has been a global epidemic for decades encouraging health issues, and influencing children to make decisions that are not theirs to make. The children’s market is a booming industry that generates approximately $500 billion in purchases every single year for just children under the age of 12. This paper will explore why marketing to children is unethical, as they are underage and should not be a target of content that is not suitable for their age. I will argue that children are minors and should not be marketed inappropriate content that shapes their purchase influence, gender roles and transmits stereotypes, violence, sex, and morals. As well as, cause deviance as social structures encourages them to seek objectives…
