How Does Clarisse Influence Montag

Bradbury shows how Clarisse influences Montag to look at the world in a different view, which leads to Guy Montag's rebellion against the government. She does this by simply being herself. Clarisse doesn’t conform like the government expects her to. She thinks about things such as books and often wonder what they hold inside. The government pushes that no one is to think as Clarisse does because it can lead to the coveting of books and it is an enforced law that no one should own or read books. She influences Montag by asking him questions which lead him to wonder if he is truly happy with his life. This caused Montag to attempt to discover the real meaning of life and to discover whether or not he was happy with his life which made him perform a few odd decisions such as killing Captain Beatty. After talking to clarisse montag slowly begins to rebel against the government and does numerous illegal activities such as reading books and killing his captain. These both put him at risk for going to jail, the fire department burning his house down and much more. Clarisse affecting Montag is for the better as well because it allows one more person to open there eyes to what the government is doing. If people keep rebelling as Clarisse and Montag eventually do then there world won’t be subject to the government's harm. Clarisse affecting montag isn’t just contributing to society as a whole but to Montag by himself as well. Montag is in an unloving relationship with his wife yet neither of them know it. One of the first things that clarisse says to Montag that opens his eyes is “Are you happy?” That simple sentence made Montag question his whole life especially if he and his wife are in a happy and loving relationship.
