How Does Censorship Affect Society

Censorship and the effect it has on social media.
The world has been changing over the years and with it society has been changing as well. Now, change might not always be for a negative result but it can confuse many people; in their way of thinking and even the way of behavior. There will always be people trying to express themselves in ways other people do no understand and think it is wrong because that was the way they were thought and raise. A good example is the social media’s effect is on live television shows when someone says a bad word or talks about something they should not talk about the t.v. automatically plays a “beeping” sound to cover it up. Other t.v. shows that show dead people or a big amount of blood might get covered if the channel is meant for family.

Many people have complained of their rights not being respected most of them is because of the first amendment there are many court cases of people who’s rights have been violated. One case in particular is the New York Times Company v. Sullivan court case in 1964. Which was in court because New York Times Co. had published a newspaper called ‘Heed Their Raising Voices’ which was raising propaganda and collecting funds to support Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. against Alabama jury Perjury indictment. This was clearly violating the freedom of the press right which can be found in the first amendment. Censorship is not always good, people trying to be helpful and trying to end segregation and the government not letting them because they are talking negativily about politics.
