Throughout the first twelve chapters of To Kill a Mockingbird, Atticus, Miss Maudie, and Calpurnia have acted as positive influences on Scout. Through the many violent impulses, instances of bad language, and formations of prejudices, the adults have told Scout right from wrong, and have helped her learn a lesson that will stick with her forever. Each of these adults has a different relationship with Scout. Atticus, although he is her father figure, he seems to be more distance. Miss Maudie and Scout became friends when Scout was feeling left out by Jem and Dill. Lastly, Calpurnia is always around the Finch family, so she is very well informed on how Scout lives her life, and she never holds back when correcting Scout. All three of the
