Since caffeine raises the amount of acid in the stomach heartburn and upset-stomach are possible. In extreme cases, i.e. an overdose of caffeine usually leads to a very slow death, often people die of dehydration due to the purging qualities of caffeine. The pharmaceutical’s industry is the only entity that truly benefits from any of the above conditions, besides in extreme cases death. They are responsible for creating drugs that counteract the conditions, but they can markup these products because consumers demand is higher than consumer supply. Due to religious beliefs some people refuse to receive such care, which further divides the market. People that don’t accept any medical care and rather rely on prayer have been the center of many controversial decisions. For instance, calcium is important for bone growth and development of individuals. For a young adults and even child to have large amounts of caffeine when they are still in the growth and developing stage, the skeletal structure can become damaged or other long-term medical issues may ensue. Essentially caffeine consumption during the formative stage can cause a reduction in healthier option and a reduced calcium intake which can make bones more brittle and easier to fracture. In addition, the combination of the caffeine and sugar in drinks like soda and coffee can cause tooth cavities and other dental related afflictions. In conclusion, caffeine in moderation can still be helpful for people who need to stay awake through the night now and then. However, like anything people can easily become addicted to the effects it has on the brain, stomach, and skeletal systems in the body. Also, by changing the composition of these organs, there is an increased risk of complications and disorders. The next time that I have to pull an “all-nighter” I’m definitely going to consider an alternative to caffeine to keep me
