She has just had a lot put onto her at once, which shows signs of maturity and successfulness in life. Brontë is telling the reader that Jane needs to be able to handle a lot and be versatile because the outcome she expects won't always be the outcome she gets. "I felt conscientious for Adele's welfare and progress." Jane (129). This demonstrates Jane's advancement as a young woman and readiness for being Adele's governess. Jane’s showing the qualities of love and care, qualities that she will absolutely need later on in her life. As she matures as an adult being able to be versatile and loving, will help her end up where she is supposed to be. In Bronte’s Jane Eyre, she used Brocklehurst to help begin maturing Jane, introducing her, indirectly, to new and more mature people, and give her the means to succeed and be happy. Janes maturing started with Brocklehurst embarrassing her and in turn giving her a new friend and a new role model. This people gave her the necessary tools to succeed as a governess for a successful man’s ward.
