Binge-watching, the word of the year according to the Collins Dictionary, is defined as watching a large number of television programmes in succession. We’ve all done it, and we’ve all been caught by their cliff hanger endings. But no one really knows how it affects us. Sitting around for hours, by yourself, it’s far from healthy. Over the past few years’ binge-watching has risen from the fringes of society to become one of the main ways many of us consume media content. Binge-watching affects your mental, physical and emotional health as well as your viewing experience.
It seems like the perfect way to relax, but what happens after the binge. There are a range of consequences for what seems like only a couple of hours of innocent Television. Some feel depressed or anxious, whilst others are reported to have increased chances of diabetes or obesity.
