First, every time alcohol is consumed it destroys brain cells. To clarify, the average amount of brain cells dying is 10 brain cells per 750 mL of alcohol. Next, binge drinkers develop a neurological disorder called Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome, which can result in a loss of neurons in some parts of the brain. This syndrome can also lead to memory loss and can affect a person's ability to read and write. Thirdly, developing brains are the most in danger from consuming alcohol because developing brains are still growing more brain cells and neurons. To clarify, developing brain alcohol abusers lose 50% more brain cells for every 750 mL of alcohol. In 2017, more than 60% of young alcohol users have failed school due to the fact they were consuming alcohol.
