Sabrina Nooruddin, Miss India Georgia 2009, article “Not irony: Beauty pageants make strong women” is based on the ideas of personal unrealistic thoughts and opinions. It is strictly based on only her specific experiences that were beneficial to her. Her claim, that beauty pageants make strong women is misleading in the fact that she is not clear and concise with her main ideas, she lacks ethos, logos, and pathos, and does not cover the actual act of strutting down a runway with glitz and glam. This is the issue with the article, what about the girls who have not won a single title? It was once stated, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder,” from the Shakespeare play Loves 's Labours Lost. This frequently used quote speaks truth about beauty pageants (Beauty). The young competitors become hard on themselves based on a certain judge 's opinion. If they have not found success in the hobby they love or forced to love, the girls will stop believing in themselves. To compete in pageants, young girls apply make-up to increase their appearance and appeal to the judges. Flippers, fake teeth, are applied for an altered smile this shows natural beauty no longer matters during pageants. Everyone was made in their own way; therefore, no one else should be judging the way they were created. Beauty pageants can help the participants be involved in other actives like dance, drama, and public speaking (Beauty Pageants Pros). The pageants can teach the girls to have a positive attitude and not to be a sore loser. While these minor positives only have a small toll on the girls, the negatives still have an enormous impact on the girls mentally and physically.
