While I was reading the play, I was surprise of how this period of time was depicted using comedy. The comedic element used for this play was intelligent and some times a little explicit, but it depicted a period of war and sexism in a comprehensive and unique way. I believe that Aristophanes was criticizing more how men behave in this time that how women behave in response to the crisis that they were facing. The used of a sex strike as a means to an end is only effective if is done the right way and this play clearly represents the use of a sex strike in the right way.
