Everyone's personality is different and everyone personality changes over time, so people might not always be the same in a couple of years. This is shown in the book, The Diary of Anne Frank, by McDougal Littell. In the book, Anne changes a lot while in hiding. She goes from acting childish and becomes mature, she gets nicer to everyone, and she goes from having a lot of energy and running around to having low energy and being a lot more calm.
While in hiding Anne changes, one example of this is how he gets more mature over time in while hiding. One example of this is when Anne is talking to Margot, "I mean, every time I go to Peter's room, I have a feeling I may be hurting you. I know if it were me, I'd be wild. I'd be desperately jealous

I've got something..."
Mrs. Frank "What is it?"
Anne "Presents!" (62)
This shows that Anne becomes nicer to everyone while in hiding. It was Hanukkah and no one was expecting to receive anything, but Anne went out of her way to make something special for each one of them.
Also while in hiding she becomes calmer. In the beginning, she had a lot of energy, always running around, singing, and dancing. But as years pass she becomes calmer and doesn't run around while singing or anything like that.
Anne "And what do you think now, Peter? How have I changed?"
Peter "Well...er...you're...quieter."(99)
This is a quote from Anne and Peter while they were talking in Peter's room. It shows that later in the book she calms down and Peter notices this and tells her. Throughout the time in the annex, Anne's personality changed a lot. She became nicer and more mature. Anne's parents would always tell her to be nice and use good manner, this made her more mature and nice. The other characters noticed this so they became nicer to Anne. Peter notices and starts talking to Anne and they became good friends. After the war, her dad went back to the hiding place and found her diary. He published it but it didn't grow that fast, but now it is used in schools
