“One of us in this very room is in fact the murderer” (Christie). The novel And Then There Were None is a mystery based on ten characters who are unfamiliar with one another and isolated on an island as each of them die not knowing who the killer is. Throughout this novel Agatha Christie was able to use conflict to make the mystery enthralling, while creating a puzzling mindset. Conflict is seen everywhere in this novel, even in the beginning in chapter one when “Dr.Armstrong nearly went into the hedge” (Christie 13), due to the fact that Tony Marston was speeding and pushed him off the road. Essay Analysis The essay on Agatha Christie was fairly effective on supporting and proving its thesis on how Christie’s book has had a big impact on readers everywhere even today. The essay is above average in my opinion because of several reasons. Also, the writer doesn’t use any form of personal voice which is effective in getting the reader engaged in the topic by having the the reader focus on the topic instead of the writer.…

Agatha Christie has created suspense with the use of foreshadowing in the characters dialogue. In Gothic Literature the author usually is not very clear as to what events are happening which tends to create a state of confusion. This can be seen in Agatha Christie’s “ And Then There Were None” and also in Eudora Welty’s “Powerhouse.” In “And Then There Were None” Christie creates a state of confusion by not telling us who the host and hostess are nor why these guests inparticular are being invited to stay at Soldier Island. Correspondingly in “Powerhouse” Welty creates a state of confusion by not being clear about whether or not Mrs.Powerhouse is dead or what happened to her.…
