Did you know that the average person in the United States needs to make $35,000 a year? Unfortunately, the majority of African citizens only make $1,800 a year! There has to be a reason behind Africa's severe underdevelopment. I think Africa's history had a big impact on its current development because the Slave Trade, the Scramble for Africa, and the Apartheid are all examples of Europe taking over Africa each of these events weakened Africa greatly. The Transatlantic Spave Trade was what really made slavery skyrocket. Europeans invaded Africa and used Africans as slaves. Due to their low cost, African slaves were I high demand. Since so many Africans died while slaves, it was difficult to develop. It doesn't help that most of the slaves were beaten to death. One of the other events that occurred was the Scramble for Africa. During this time period, many European countries colonized Africa. This caused Africa's resources to be stolen and wars to erupt between Africa and Europe. This can cause a numerous amount of issues with Africa's development. Stolen resources are bad because you need resources to develop. Wars are even worse because not only do a lot of people lose their lives, wars can cost billions of dollars.
