How Does Advertising Directly Reflected Teen Culture

Advertisements do not directly reflected teen culture. What it does is influence it, then it becomes a reflection of what teen culture is for a short time. This can be bad and sometimes good. Censoring it would take away the right to freedom of speech but on the other hand some is the things advertisements get people to buy can be harmful to them and sometimes other. So it really depends on what they are selling if it should be censored or not. So only some companies should eb able to target teens and kids When an advertisement that makes that produced look like it is the new cool hip thing is shown to kids and teens, they believe this, thus making them go out and buy it. This is what is meant when it is said that, advertisements influence teen culture then reflect it for a short time. They have it so everyone goes out to buy the product that was not part of teen culture before, then after everyone has bought one and is using it, it becomes part of teen culture which is why it then reflects it for a short time. …show more content…
It should happen because not all advertisements that target teens and kids are not good for them. For example in a recent study they have found that alcohol ads in pop culture magazines are targeting teens. In the study they found that “Beer marketers, for instance, delivered 45 percent more advertising to young people than to adults in magazines last year”. “‘The study assumes that advertising has a negative influence on young people,’ said Jeff Becker, a spokesman for the Beer Institute in Washington, D.C”. This is the part that should be censored. It is not good for teens to exposed to stuff like this. There is some stuff that should not be censored. Such as toy ads, home appliance ads, car ads, and
