The word abortion is a common thing. It simply means to get rid of something that is un wanted. Abortions can emotionally affect each woman very differently. Some women report feelings of relieve and regret. Do abortion cause women to experience loss and sadness, or simply go on with their day to day life’s like nothing happened? Women’s emotions vary for what ages and how long they’ve been pregnant. Today’s studies have shown the mental effects on women have changed drastically, more issues have occurred in the past ten years and is making it hard for more women each day. Emotional and physiological effects following abortion are becoming more common than the actual physical side effects. They can range from mild regret to much more serious complications like depression and could lead to self-harm. Most women …show more content…
This attitude makes it way easier for them and the chances of serious mental difficulties are fewer with these women. However, those who believed it was a baby and not some cells are more vulnerable to negative side effects, which could lead to serious complications. These women feel guilty because they have aborted a baby. They feel shame, regret and guilt. These are the ones who are vulnerable to have suicidal thoughts. They may also develop eating disorders, insomnia, anxiety and depression. All of these can overwhelm her and she may consider suicide as a way out of the situation she may be in. Women who have aborted have a 138 percent risk of mental health problems (Colman 2002) says. She also says that women who have aborted have 58 percent higher mental risk compared to women who had a unplanned pregnancy and has given birth. A woman may be more prone to emotional side effects, after an abortion, if she had previously suffered from psychological and emotional issues, if she had been religious it would have been a huge amount more difficult for
