Shielding children from overexposure to advertising, shopping, and seeing people using credit can help in the early years, but they will still be exposed to these concepts. To combat this parents must expose the truth beneath all the advertising. Walking a child through a credit card application, with all its terms, conditions, fees, and interest rate, explaining how these policies are designed to take advantage of the consumer is one important step. The same can be done with anything advertising a nothing down, no interest payment plan. By explaining how interest works, both in the favor of the saver, and to the detriment of the over spender, an important step is taken toward equipping a child practical financial knowledge.…

Erica Alini starts off the article strong and is able to narrow in on the problem at hand from the beginning of the article. Erica Alini’s article “Generation Spend” focuses on the financial irresponsibility of thousands of young people in this generation. She clearly supports this issue by referring to statistics associated with dates, different studies in relation to the topic and direct quotes from primary sources such as RBC bank parents and a few university students.…

The four articles I read give several solutions for why students abuse credit cards. As the article “Credit Card Debt a Big Concern on College Campuses” says one of the solutions that students pay debt off on time. The same article explains another solutions that students stay away from multiple credit cards. I think the solution that students pay debt off on time is better than the solution that students stay away from multiple credit cards, because if students can pay it off on time, students will never get trouble in debt. Even though students only have one credit card, they also can have high-level debt if they don’t pay it off on time.…

The fix to this problem is pretty simple in fact, just stop using the credit card until it’s paid off and accurately record purchases you make with it so you know exactly how much you have to pay. On the other hand of the argument, more than 50 percent of consumers don’t owe any credit card debt. The day I received my first credit card was a glorious day. Everything that I’ve wanted to buy in the past six months became a possibility, nothing could stop my 18-year-old self from jumping off that couch and sprinting down the street to the nearest boutique to buy a pair of shoes.
