Warfare has changed so greatly over time due to weapons becoming more technologically advanced and much more deadly. During the time period 1500-2017 weapons have changed drastically. Weapons have progressed from new steel weaponry during the mid-century to cyber warfare making itself known during the past 100 years.

Cyber warfare, nuclear weapons, drones that don’t require a pilot, and tanks are all products of revolutionary weaponry growth. In the past 100 years, weapons have changed drastically. From starting off with a bow and arrow in the early civilizations to now by simply hitting a button a whole city can be blown up within seconds exemplifies a huge change in weaponry. In Guns, Germs, and Steel the documentary mentions how weapons are constantly being competed over. Without that urge to compete or gain power, weapons wouldn’t be nearly as advanced as they are today. Most of these new weapons originated from the first computer. While launching the first computer opened many doors for the average everyday person, it also created hackers and nuclear weapons that have been used to destroy millions of people's lives. Not only are computers at fault, but devices that are glued to the entire population's hand. The wrong hands, a smartphone could send out orders to decimate the entire worldwide population. It’s surprisingly easy, the order is given and the launch is set off. Smart phones, computers, and gaming systems were all created with the intent to bring expanded knowledge and educational resources, not to ruin social interactions and make people fearful for their lives. The airplane is another example of this. Having being built on the intent to make travel more accessible, it is now also used to drop nuclear bombs on families and communities. From the airplane also emerged drones. Drones today are used to spy and don’t have to be flown with a pilot which makes it extremely efficient for military use. All of these weapons have changed from the mid-century. While guns and swords may still be around, there are new and improved weapons that are deadly and can be fatal to the lives of many
