How Do We Shape Our Identity

Improved Essays
Identity is what makes someone themselves. Someone’s past can shape their identity. People can define themselves by what they like, what they wear, or what they like to do in their free time. All of those things make up someone's identity. I am musical, strong-willed, and Creative.
I’d like to think I’m very musically inclined. Music has always been a passion of mine. I know how to play about six different instruments. Some of them are very closely related such as the trumpet and cornet. I really play a little bit of everything but my all time favorite one to play is the bass guitar. I picked up a bass guitar about a year ago and instantly fell in love with it. I even joined my school’s jazz band and played it for that. I’m also in marching band. I march baritone and at first it was hard because I have no upper body strength but with some practice and my “I can do this attitude” (there was also lots of crying involved), I’m starting to learn to love it. If I’m not playing music, I’m most likely listening to it. My

When I was younger my creativeness was shown through me making art. I loved to color and paint and drawing pictures is always what I did in my free time. As I got older my creativeness went into writing. I love writing stories. Whether they are about star-crossed lovers or zombie

Hollowell 3 apocalypse, the ideas just starting flooding out as soon as my fingers hit the keyboard. My creativeness also shows through my makeup. I’m always trying out new looks and seeing which colors blend nicely together. Overall I think being creative is a nice trait to have. Who am I? At the beginning of this essay I struggled to come up with the answer to that. I didn’t want to seem like I was bragging about my musical talent or seem like I thought I was a better writer than anyone else. But these three things describe me and I wanted to be able to show that. I am musical. I am strong-willed. I am

Question 6 During my volunteer work at Cornerstone Ranch and Rescue, I learned that physics could be applied to any aspect of everyday life. This has helped me solidify my understanding of physics and eager to learn more. The realization of how physics is everywhere has sparked my interest to want to learn more physics in order to get a better understanding of how and why the world works the way it does. The property owner related many concepts of horseback riding and ranch work with physics-related ideas so that I could relate them to a science-based mindset.…

Creativity expresses itself in various artistic, innovative, or even technical ways, and for me it’s a little of all three. I come from a family of three, living with my parents and no siblings. Like all marriages, my parents would argue and at times the stress from that affected me. When this occurs, it sparks the moment I feel my creativity peaking and experience a substantial urge to create, whether it is a melody on my keyboard or a piece of artwork. I’ve learned to paint nature scenes on canvas with a heavy influence from the late Bob Ross.…

One of my earliest memories is of my friends and me, age nine, in the woods, holding tree branches and pretending to fight monsters. We called it the Maze Game: each person chose a rock, leaf, or some other token to be their figure, and placed it in a labyrinth made of twigs. Each person would alternate between acting as the narrator, the in-game characters, and the enemies. Because we were homeschooled, we had the opportunity to devote time to such shenanigans; we made our own fun out of whatever we could find in the house, outside, and at the Dollar Store.…

What was your most recent creative thought? How did this thought arise in your head? Was it in the midst of a pressured brainstorming session or did it come about naturally in a quiet and private manner? People aren’t born creative. Although many of us like to think that creativity is a God given gift that only the talented few are lucky to posses, it’s not quite that simple.…

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your generosity in funding the Doris Cohen/York Art Association Scholarship Endowment. I am very honored to be the recipient of this award. I am one of five siblings born and raised in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Both of my parents are originally from China and Hong Kong, starting a new life in the United States at a very young age. My parents experienced a lot of hardships and value of each of my siblings education, making sacrifices so that we could pursue our desired goals.…

I always thought that I knew what creativity meant, I thought to be creative you had to be good at drawing detailed art, or you weren’t creative. Growing up I realized that that was not always the case, there is beauty in everything and it takes a creative mind to see it. I am not an artistic person, I have always liked drawing, but I was not very good at it. I very recently found out that there is more to art than just drawing.…

My creative side is not expressed artistically such as drawings, paintings and sculptures, however, I can express myself through innovative thinking and problem solving. For instance, just recently, my parents planned a family trip during thanksgiving break to Cancun, Mexico. It was great news, but I wanted to share this amazing experience with someone I really cared about. Straight away it was a difficult thing to ask of my parents to invite my best friend, therefore I needed an immense approach to convince my parents. At the present time I was clueless on what I was going to plan out, but I knew I needed a confirmation ahead of time of whether I could or couldn't take her with me.…

I would like to dispel this belief that anyone, anywhere cannot be creative. It is simply not that exact; everyone has the potential to be creative in many different ways. Embracing the awareness that creativity does live within all of us, if we allow it to flow freely, randomly, letting your mind wonder is the key. Simply restructuring the way we look at the challenge and seeing things as an opportunity to develop the idea, while making the connection with two or more seemingly unrelated things come together in a unique design is what makes us evolutionary…

Art is such a good way to influence people in a community in a positive way, and that is really what I want to do. I’ve been influenced so much by other artists that I hope even if I am not ever a source of inspiration, I can at least get my voice out there. I know I have more of an opportunity as an artist to get my voice heard, than I would if I were not, especially as a female. In the art classes I’ve taken so far, there has been a lot of emphasis on the product and outcome of a piece, and the concept involved, but less emphasis on the experience of creating. I want to become better at creating for the experience and not the result.…
