How Do Volcanoes Affect The Environment

Every year at least one volcano erupts and damages many things around them, but how do volcanoes effect the people and their environment? There are many different types of volcanoes such as the cinder cone volcano, shield volcano and many more but what they all have in common is that they effect the environment and the people living in it. How do volcanoes affect people and environments? There are different ways volcanoes can affect the people and the environment. It could be an active volcano, volcanic soil, or the slopes that cause so many volcanic deaths.

Sometimes the rate at which volcanic loam is formed depends on the geographical factors of the environment. The next reason is because weathering and erosion can cause a volcano. “In Hawaii, for example weathering from wind and rain occurs quickly because of the tropical environment.” (McDonaugh 60). Hawaii’s lush vegetation is due to the quick formation of the soil.

Finally the last reason why volcanoes can affect many people and the environment is because of the slopes. Highway 11 is the path a traveler would follow from Kona (west side) direction driving towards Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The western slopes from Manuku State Park to the Kahuka section feature a forest reserve and broad vistas with a view of the ocean and mountains. This means that the residents can easily get attacked by a volcano because they are near the ocean.
