How Do Violent Video Games Affect The Brain

Many people do not realize violent video games improve the brains development rather than hurt it. Violent video games like Call of Duty are fast paced live multiplayer strategy games. These types of games work many parts of the brain. It improves premotor and parietal cortex which are used for sensory movement. There are further improvements in the prefrontal cortex which controls most of the decision making. After shooting in a violent video game there is increased activity in the dorsal anterior cingulate cortex improves cognition and planning for example tracking the targets next movement and action. They also further improves attentional processing and contrast sensitivity. These are all very important and useful parts of the brain to further develop. All these improvements show video games are clearly helping the body rather than hurting it. …show more content…
While only 50% of non gamers think highly of people from other countries. This shows the diverse online cultures of video games improves acceptances of other nationalities which is very useful to have. Additionally studies show that video games improve Social skills and teamwork in multiplayer and Co-op. All of these skills are very important to have and any improvement in them is very useful. Some argue though that video games aren’t all that good for the brain because the Amygdala is suppressed when killing in a video game. The Amygdala is responsible for controlling the bodies emotional response. This is true but it is only a short term suppression. After finishing playing the games these effects are minute to untraceable. While many of the other benefits of video games like in the prefrontal cortex are longer lasting. The benefits of video games on brain development is clear video games help the brain develop not hurt
