• How do the four Native American regions differ? o Generalization: The Pacific Northwest, Desert Southwest, Great Plains, and Eastern Woodland regions have differing geographies, climates, and natural resources. Each region has different natural resources (water, vegetation, animals) terrains, and weather conditions which greatly affect how the tribes conduct their day to day lives. Each region has different challenges and benefits that require the tribes who inhabit those regions to adapt and grow accustomed to their environments.

Each tribe from each region must adjust and adapt their ways of life based on geography and climate. Weather conditions and terrain within the regions affect every aspect of life including food sources, shelter, transportation, and clothing. Seasonal changes are major factors that each tribe must adapt to. Climate affects the amount and type of clothing they wear as well as the types of homes they build. Climate can also affect how well crops thrives and the types of animals in each region. Geography can also affect if tribes have water sources nearby for transportation or proper soil for crops, or even the types of homes that they build. We are also living in the same regions with the same geography and climates. The difference between the past and the present comes in the form of technology, resources, experiences, and development. We have many more resources available to us today compared to Native Americans in the past. We still have the same needs, but we can, in some cases, obtain them more easily. People whether from the past or present, are still forced to adapt to their environments in order to survive.
• What are Native American tribes like today, compared to the rest of society? o Generalization: Many Native American tribes still exist today. They still live in the same areas on their own reservations. Many tribes living on reservations have their own laws and societies, separate from that of the non-Native American society in the United States. Some of the tribes have adapted to society today or are working on integrating into the modern society, while other remain more primitive. Native Americans today are seen in modern clothing living in modern homes and blending into the rest of society, but they still while still maintaining various aspects of their culture and
