I was also very shocked to see that Trump’s score (1.5C) was so close to the center of the spectrum. I, and I would assume many other Americans, view Trump as a very extreme candidate. However, like Hacker says, there are only really polls for hot-button issues that the public is vested in, and that polls/surveys for minor issues that don’t have much public interest are often ignored. This idea could help explain Trump’s low conservative…

On election day, the Democrats arrived at polls armed and ready to assault blacks who had come to place their vote. Voters rigged the ballot boxes and, as expected, the Democrats ended up winning by a large majority. The next day, Alfred Waddell created a Committee of Twenty-five and led its first meeting, during which a series of resolutions collectively known as the White Declaration of Independence were passed. These resolutions included the forced exile of Alex Manly, the closing of the Daily Record, and the expulsion of all current black officeholders, The White Declaration of Independence was presented to the Committee of Colored Citizens (a group of nine black men considered to be powerful in Wilmington) as an ultimatum, and they were given until 7:30 the following morning to deliver a response (Umfleet, 94). This could cause them to respond randomly and skew results. Another weakness in this poll was the sample of students that were surveyed. Although I was able to survey a graduate student, the rest of my respondents were undergraduates. The age difference could possibly affect the way the students responded. If I were to conduct this poll again, I would take the time to explain what the electoral college is and how it works, in an unbiased manner, to the students I was surveying so that they would be able to provide a more knowledgeable response.…

In the American political system, opinion polls are an important way to measure the general public’s ideological beliefs and opinions on certain key issues. According to Patterson, a public opinion poll is, “a poll or survey in which a relatively few individuals are interviewed to estimate the opinions of a whole population” (2013). These types of polls are also used to see which candidate the American people prefer in presidential election years. This election cycle is no different, especially in the battleground state of Florida. Both Mr. Trump and Secretary Clinton are vying to win the support of Floridians.…

For many, they choose parties because of influences from family, friends, maybe the media, and maybe what they have learned about the candidates and their views on the issues. Voter Suppression in the United States has been in an issue for a long time, but the majority of the people fail to recognize what could happen if these bills pass. In small and major elections, voter fraud is something the states are trying to minimize. In order for this to happen, the states pass laws to avoid fraud, but in many cases, these laws prevent certain types of people from voting or scaring them off. In North Carolina, the voter suppression tactic is very recent. There was a law that was passed called the House Bill 589 that was clearly racially biased and bigoted by the writers.…
