How Do Plants Grow When Watered

Decent Essays
Plants grow when watered. To begin with, the seed sprouts a root and when it is watered, and the water helps the plant sprout the stem. The leaves collect sunlight which combines with water, chlorophyll, and carbon dioxide to make a sugar to feed the plant to grow. This is called photosynthesis. The seed has many leaves inside of it that hasn’t grown yet. The water helps them grow. Water is a nutrient for plants. The reason why is living things needs nutrients most living organisms need food for nutrients so they can live, but plants need water to help make food called glucose to help them survive. After that, the leaves start to grow off the stem and get bigger when watered daily. Water gets collected

These factors or conditions may include “temperature, humidity, and pH, availability of light, water and nutrients” (Huxely, 2005). Therefore, the ability of an organism to adapt or “the process of change by which an organism or species become better suited to its environment” (Dictionary.com, 2015) is vital. Some of the adaptations exhibited by water plants may include an “extensive root system” where it enables the roots to take up ground water or the leaves may be “coated with fine hairs, increasing the humidity around the leaf and so reducing water loss” (Huxely,…

n the Carboniferous Period, specifically in the Pennsylvanian subsystem, between 323 and 299 million years ago, a substantial change occurred around the planet: the climate increased strongly so that oceans growed up more than two hundred meters above the level existed immediately before this period. The increase of the level of water allowed the developing and diversification of the first vascular plants, i.e., plants that alternate generations between the sexual gamete production (gametophyte) and the sexual stage (sporophyte). Through this period would have arisen three types of flora beyond red, green, brown algae, and ditoms: these are ferns, lycopods and sphenopsids (flora 1), the gymnospears, or vascular plants able for producing naked…

2004). Consequently, trees face limitations in tree height and leaf expansion as they grow taller. The Cohesion-Tension theory explains that trees transport water through continuous chains of water molecules in the xylem, which are pulled upward by an increase in tension at the top of each column caused by evaporation in leaves (Tyree et al. 2003). As such, trees reach a height limit in which the tension is too great for water to be pulled from the column. With increasing height, trees must allocate their energy and resources efficiently to maximize photosynthetic capability in the face of water stress, by closing its leaves’ stomata and limiting growth.…
