During the Antebellum Era, early feminist, although they did not directly referred to themselves that, criticizes English society’s treatment of women in justification of women’s rights. One of these women went by the name of Mary Wollstonecraft, who is known today for her efforts in the rights for women. She worked on emphasizing women’s female identity over her sexual identity, along with being educated. Wollstonecraft brings up countless times how women play in lowering recognition of their own sex, as well as their dependence on men. She always promotes how women are just as competent of reason and should be treated to men as equals.…

The poem “Her Kind” by Anne Sexton and “For My Daughter” by Weldon Kees share similar concepts of gender inequality, but in very different ways. Sexton’s poem is written from a woman’s point of view, while Kees’s is from the male perspective. Written by the opposite gender, and only twenty years apart, both poems share the same outlook on gender inequality: women are less superior to men. Sexton uses the symbol of a witch to portray the view that women hold offensive power, and Kees’s fake daughter expresses that girls are inferior to men.…

Women throughout history faced discrimination, segregation, and inequality. Stanton points out that women have been confronted with an “overpowering [of] the feminine element everywhere” and that they have “scarce been recognized a power” (Stanton). Women, however have “diviner qualities” and hold love as a motive behind all actions (Stanton). Recognition of the power of women can be seen in their survival and by the care still given to others after generations of malfeasance against women. Bringing life into the world, women know “the cost of life” is worth far more than the violent actions often placed on life by men (Stanton).…

Some questions female teachers, along with females of the world, should ask themselves is that: “How do we, as women, teach women students a canon of literature which has consistently excluded or depreciated female experience, and which often expresses hostility to women and validates violence against us?” How can we teach women to move beyond the desire for male approval and getting good grades and seek to write their own truths that the culture has distorted or made taboo” (Rich 445)? Therefore, based on my experiences, and the society that I live in, I can be in total agreement with the author that women are not treated equally with men, but not at the expanse as how it was in the society which the author grew up…

It is still not completely equal in my view. In terms of academics and professional opportunities women play an equal role in developments and have just as much access to make significant contributions. Socially, in many cultures women are underestimated, undermined and are noted to be inferior to men and believe that they should submit to a man’s order. In Parts of Africa men are legally allowed to take multiple wives while a woman is defined as being promiscuous if heard of having multiple partners. I strongly support that by virtue a woman should not follow that trend but for the reason of equality a man should be treated with the same regards.…

In today’s society, technically women and men are claimed to be treated as equals. In the Constitution the 19th amendment is women’s right to vote, so by letting women vote everyone assumes that women are treated as equal as men. To this day, there are people who do not believe that we are all treated 100% equal and they would like to change that. Society has put women in a position to where there are feminists, which are people who fight for women’s rights and support other women. One of the most popular controversial topics people seem to just keep talking about is how women seem to get paid less than men.…
