How Do Guns Affect The Economy

Firearms have created a huge industry in the United states. Ever since the beginning of massed produced firearms, guns have impacted the economy. When there is talk about guns being outlawed it encourages people to go out and buy a gun in fear that buying a firearm will not be allowed someday. Guns also provide more than double the jobs compared to General Motors. Guns have always created jobs. These jobs exist all across the United States and even here in our own town Grand Island. Hornady in Grand Island is a large ammunition factory and employs more than three hundred people in Grand Island alone. If Guns were outlawed then there would be no need to manufacture ammunition and that would destroy over three hundred families in Grand Island alone, because there would be no income being brought in by their parent that worked at Hornady. …show more content…
These numbers more than double General Motors, which President Obama refers to as “a pillar of success of our economy.” (Stubborn) This is interesting because our country is in massive debt and one would think the president would want us to keep building our economy. Instead of destroying it by taking away guns. President Obama has made the gun industry strive due to the pending threat of him making harsher gun laws. Gun sales have spiked since Obama’s election in 2008 (Barack). This fluctuation in sales is due to the threat of stricter gun laws being imposed. Gun buyers will be satisfied to see Obama leave office after 2016. This will most likely make firearm and ammunition sales decrease dramatically.
