Extracurricular activities have shaped me in many ways. During my two years in the United States, I ran for student president at my school, I participated in community service, and I obtained an internship. I realize that these activities have not only allowed me to develop and become more versatile, but also helped me integrate into American society. This year, I ran for student president, and I won. I attend Emma Lazarus High School where is a diverse place with people from over 20 countries. I work alongside other board members to enhance the school’s environment into a safe, caring, loving and welcoming community for everyone. In this semester, I helped to plan a welcome party for new students, collected food for the homeless, and provided tutoring to students who needed additional support. My goal is to bring everyone together because I believe that we can fuse different cultures. This experience has made me rethink what it means to be a leader. 1. What past experience do you bring to this position and how would it benefit KPU? One of my biggest accomplishments my junior and senior years of high school was my involvement in organizing and hosting many assemblies and school-wide events. During my junior year, I worked on a committee known as student support, and we were directly in charge of creating and putting on school wide assemblies. In this role, I learned how to organize large-scale events, find and invite big-name speakers to our school, write scripts, and get an impactful message across to all students.…

I joined the debate team when I was in the eighth grade and I did it all throughout high school because I really enjoyed the activity and being a part of a team. I was the captain of the team my senior year and this gave me the chance to step up and assume a leadership role and be a role model for the younger students just like the captains before me were a leader to me. Both of my debate coaches, Mr. Martino and Mrs. Shea, acknowledged how I was a strong leader and a role model on the team. They both wrote extensively about one of the main reasons I was such a good leader was because I worked hard and motivated my peers to do the same. One of the most important aspects of debate is all the preparation that occurs before the actual tournament and sometimes this part can be frustrating and lonely because it requires a lot of effort outside of school.…
