For example, if you wanted to talk about mathematics, you would go to the Marine Coffee House, where you could catch James Hodgson lecturing about natural philosophy. Every coffeehouse was different, and each person had their own interests. As coffeehouses became more common people from all walks of life began to cross paths. It was here that scientists and entrepreneurs met and formed companies to start inventing new navigational equipment or exploited new discoveries in mining. New tools were created that helped every day life, and this set the stage for the Industrial Revolution.
