Cell Phones in Class, Help or Distraction? One of the largest distractions in the classroom in America, could be the solution to one of the biggest problems in the classroom. Nearly eighty percent of teens in America own a cell phone, and because of this more and more students are sneaking around with their phones in class. Although most schools have bans on cell phones, there are ways that they could be used in the classroom. Such as reading books and essays off of ebooks, looking up words on dictionary apps and websites, and taking photos and video of classroom related things. The first reason that students should be allowed to use their phones in class because they can read ebooks, there are many …show more content…
Students may also go to the thesaurus section of the online dictionary to look for synonyms and antonyms of a word for an essay, this is a very useful resource according to Leyden. Yes, students may not be doing their work if they are not being supervised, but if you keep strict rules and walk around the classroom the students will do what they are supposed to.

The camera on a phone can be used to video classroom for later references, you could also use it to take pictures of the whiteboard instead of writing in a planner or agenda, it is a very useful thing to have. You could also use the camera to take a picture of a copy of homework and they could submit it via google docs. Sure students may get distracted if a text or notification pops up, but, it would save a lot of paper.

In other words, cell phones should definitely be found in the classroom.⅘ students in America have a cell phone, they can do many things. Reading books and essays off of ebooks saves a lot of time and money that is wasted on printer ink, looking up complicated words on dictionary apps and websites, and taking photos and video of classroom related
