Books of all genres interested me. The Junie B. Jones collection was one of my favorites. I would buy a new book each week until I had finished the series. I then went on to reading all kinds of new books. In grade school, my reading level increased about every two months. In 1939 they left Paris for the Chateau Feuga. Months later, the Reys returned to Paris to find out that the location became worse. Refugees were coming into Paris, in anticipation for safe haven, however that was not the case. In 1940, the couple left Paris and took their “Curious George” manuscripts with them. Luckily for them the Nazis arrived a day after they left. At that point the Reys ended up south of France where they spent several weeks in a refugee camp in a high-school gymnasium.
