The media has influenced society since the day it started. Whether it be advertisements, newspapers, the radios, television, and social media, it has shaped a lot of the norms that still exist today. Men have always been expected to earn more than women because that’s who society has shaped. Men are supposed to be the breadwinners while women are supposed to be the caregivers. In sports, it is said that it’s industry has the biggest gender pay gap. Take tennis for example. While Serena Williams is making almost 30 million a year, Roger Federer is making almost 70 million a year. That’s twice the amount of money just because Roger is a male. Lovato, D. (2013). Warrior. Demi. [CD]. Burbank, California: Hollywood Records Inc. I chose this song to represent bullying because it’s about Demi’s personal experiences. The lyrics tell her story and the stories about what others have gone through with bullying well. Often, bullying isn’t a story people affected by it speak about publically. It’s hard to talk about and ultimately, to accept. The song first starts by stating how hard admitting what bullying is and how much it affects one’s life. It continues stating all the pain and truth we wear like a battle wound is shameful and confusing. When it opens up to the chorus, it showcases the strength one gains through such an experience. “Now I’m a warrior. Now I’ve got thicker skin. I’m a warrior. I’m stronger than I’ve ever been and my armor is made of steel, you can’t get in. I’m a warrior and you can never hurt me again.” No matter how hard a situation may be, this song is a great example of how one can overcome a challenge and grow into a stronger person from
