The most prominent and obvious way that World War One benefited the United States was it caused a boom in american economy. As the allies started to run out of supplies, they began to look for other nations to trade with for valuable war material. Many countries, Great Britain especially, turned to the United states. The United States, being a neutral country at first, made a surfeit of money selling war supplies to allied countries. Prior to entering the war, the United States had to build up its forces to prepare for action. To hurry this, the government passed the Selective Service Act which initiated a military draft. According to Glencoe and National Geographic’s The American Journey Student Textbook; “3 million (soldiers) were ‘called to serve,’ (drafted into the military) and another 2 million joined voluntarily.” This then brought the number of our troops to a record high.
