On April 6, 1917, President Woodrow Wilson declared war on Germany and began sending troops into Europe. But why did he do this. Since the beginning of World War 1 Woodrow Wilson maintained a strict policy of neutrality. Even while the Germans were using submarines to sink ships headed to England, many of these ships were American. But eventually the Germans stopped this until later on they rebooted the operation and the united states declared war on Germany.
