How Did Western Culture Influence Greek Culture

The mountains and the seas were the landforms of Greece that played a significant role in why Greece became such a power house. Greece was composed of an immense amount of tiny city-states which was secluded by mountains. The mountains had caused the communities to become very independent. After a period of time, the Greek communities became so willing to fight to gain advantage over another. The rivalries between the communities led to pestilential warfare that would eventually destroyed the Greek society. With the seas being a border of Greece, the Greeks became seafarers. They sailed out to the Mediterranean Sea and Aegean Sea to make some kind of connection with the outside world which would eventually lead to more Greek colonies later on. Secondly, between 750 and 550 B.C.E., a substantial amount of Greeks left their homelands to colonize in remote lands. The Greeks settled all across the Mediterranean which lead to the Greek culture being distributed throughout the Mediterranean. Colonization all across the Mediterranean helped advance a greater sense of Greek individuality. The cultural contributions of the Greeks transpired during this period. Intellectual and cultural growth soared throughout Greece during this period. Drama originated from the Greeks and the first Greek dramas were called tragedies. These tragedies have and still influence the universal theme that are similar to the ones we have today. Greek comedy formulated later than tragedy. The art of the Greek displayed human beings as objects of beauty. The artist were translucent thinkers which is why their art pieces had been so realistic.
