How Did Walt Disney Change The World

Walt Disney changed the lives of children across the nation with cartoons and movies. Disney started by drawing cartoons for his high school’s newspapers but, dropped out of school to join the Army. He was too young to join so he decided to drive ambulances for the Red Cross instead, only to find he was one year too young. He changed the year he was born and was sent to France for a year to drive. Later he moved to California, where his uncle lived, and they signed a contract with Margaret Winkler, a cartoon distributer from New York. Later he changed the studio name to Walt Disney Studio. Walt met Lillian Bounds; they got married on July 13, 1925. They have two daughters, Diane Disney Miller and Sharon Mae Disney. Walter Elias Disney …show more content…
Disney was awarded a Presidential Medal of Freedom and a Congressional Gold Award. He received an Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award, DeMolay Legion of Honor, Honorary Cesar, DGA Honorary Life Member Award, David di Donatello, and New York Film Critics Circle Special Award. In total he received 19 different awards. Most of his awards are for his movies (some awards did not say what they were for).
Disney made 50 short films in his lifetime. Beginning in 1923 and ending in 1966. His short films include The Tortoise and The Hare, Goofy and Wilbur, Mickey Mouse. Disney made 81 movies in his lifetime. The first being Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in 1937 and his last, The Jungle Book in 1967. His movies include Fantasia, Bambi, and Lady and the Tramp. Altogether he made 131 different films in his life.
He showed an early interest in art and he pursued his interest, now his is famous. He also had an interest in trains, his uncle who was a train engineer helped spark the interest. Disney went to work at the rail road stations, passing newspapers to travelers as a summer job. Disney’s first company went bankrupt; afterwards he and his brother Roy, saved up enough money to move to California and start another company. Lillian Bounds was an ink-print artist and was hired in 1925. In the 1940’s Disney’s animators went on strike and it took the company years
