At some points, they would talk and at some points when they did talk they were very aggressive. But, Tituba confessed and told the jury everything (Don 17). She said that she wasn’t trying to harm anyone or make anyone ill (Rice 19). She was only trying to do it “for the good of the people”. Tituba was supposed to aid the girls and help them. She was supposed to be there for them. Not to harm them in any way. So, she was fired from her job at their household. She was then on the streets and was extremely poor and no one felt bad because she had been accused of hurting three young innocent girls. Tituba had told them that there were more witches than they think there are. Ann Putman then came forward and said that she suspected that Martha Corey was a witch. So, she was taken to court. Martha Corey did not cooperate (Salem witch trials 19). She laughed at the questions and was labeled the “gossip women”(Rice 10). Martha Corey used to be liked by many people. No one would’ve suspected her. But, someone thought that she had something suspicious about her. Many more villagers soon began to give names. But, he wouldn’t speak to them, he ignored them. Martha Corey was later pressed to death. He would not cooperate (Salem witch trials 10). He ignored everything. Just sat there until they let him go back to his cell. He was very ignorant and very angry all the time. He always seemed like he had somewhere to be. He was very antsy. That was the end of the Salem witch trials. There were lots of innocent people imprisoned until Phipps decided to pay for all of their imprisonment and all of the people were given 600 pounds ($155.66) (Salem witch trials 25). People said that they kept seeing visions about what happened (Rice 29). There was later a smallpox epidemic. People still don’t believe that it should have happened (Don 21). There is now a memorial in their memory and, a museum with all of the original court documents (Rice 26). Although this all happened so long ago there will still be a long lasting rivalry in Salem (Salem witch trials 27).
