Thomas Jefferson was the 3rd President of the United States, an American Founding Father, and the first United States Secretary of State under George Washington. He was born April 13, 1743 in Virginia. His mother Jane was a member of the Randolph Clan. His father was Peter, a successful farmer, surveyor, and cartographer. Jefferson went to College at College of William and Mary Williamsburg. He became a very successful lawyer and also spoke five different languages fluently. Jefferson fell in love with Martha Shelton, one of the wealthiest women in Virginia. Together they had six children, but only two lived to adulthood.
