How Did Thomas Edison Impact The World

Without the work of Thomas Edison the world be very different than it is now, due to how much we rely on his inventions. During the Industrial Revolution numerous inventions were created to improve the lives of Americans. Without the inventions of Thomas Edison, the world would be much different than it is now because we would not have the technology to live. Edison’s life had a big impact on the inventions he created. Edison was born in Milan, Ohio on February 11, 1847. He went to school for a few months, but his teachers thought he was slow. Edison had the concept of a battery, which was used to store energy over a long period of time. This is significant because the battery is now used in numerous inventions used all around the world. Edison’s battery “attracted the attention on the United States Navy”(Adair-121), and the batteries were used to store energy needed for running ships. Edison also created a device that could separate iron from unusable iron ores. This was very helpful because instead of wasting the iron he was able to turn it into something that was useable. Edison also had a huge impact on the way people were elected into office. Edison created a device to improve voting, “the device was made the goal of helping legislators in the US congress record their votes in a quicker fashion that the voice vote system”(Thomas Edison’s Most Famous Inventions). This helped because the votes were recorded much faster and its more accurate that the other procedure of voting. Without his work on the light bulb “it was unreliable, expensive, and short lived”(Thomas Edison’s most famous inventions). This is a big improved technology because most everything today involves lighting. There is lighting in homes, cars, boats, planes, and many more. The point is, with out the work of Edison and his inventors the technology that the world has today would not be as advanced. The telegraph was beneficial to anyone who had the need to communicate with someone. The telegraph could be transmitted over a long distance. This is helpful with the government because it lets important people communicate with each other. This was very helpful for people for people who need to communicate quickly to others. Direct current (DC) power was another invention of Edison’s. This had a great impact
