Theodore Roosevelt was born on October 27, 1858 in New York City. He had two sisters and one brother. He was educated by tutors until he went to Harvard at the age of eighteen. In 1880, he graduated from Harvard College. He went to Columbia University Law School for one year, but he dropped out to enter public service. He brought order to the Dominican Republic’s finances in 1904. Roosevelt convinced Congress to approve building ten battleships and four armored cruisers for the Navy. Teddy tried to get the right from Colombia to build a canal across Panama. He set up 25 irrigation projects and set aside 18 sides for national monuments.
