Did Birmingham change them? Did they change in a good or bad way? Does this change everything? In the novel “The Watsons Go to Birmingham-1963” The Watsons take a trip to Birmingham, Alabama which changes them a lot due to the environment, cruelty, and their fears. To begin, The Watsons are greatly impacted by the environment, mostly the heat! In the novel, The Watsons are very used to the cold in Flint, Michigan where they live however, when they visit Alabama everyone is complaining of how bad the heat is. The environment really changes the mood of the characters , like when they wake up in the morning, they are very grumpy and always complaining.
