Some Artist did make the claim the Vogels were cheating them, because they would go straight to the artist with low offers. These were few and far between, because many of the artist interviewed felt they were a god-send, by just buying their work. The Vogels liked to find new emerging artist that were difficult for the art world and public to understand their work. They used their person eye for aesthetics to make decisions and the curriculum of if they could carry it on the subway or in a taxi back to their apartment. They once returned a minimalist sculpture because it could not be displayed in their apartment for a different piece.
