Imagine yourself being accused of witchcraft. Many women and some men were accused of witchcraft. The Salem witch trials where when people were accused of being inhabited or taken by the devil. There were 20 people executed because of it. Many Puritans have lived here in Salem, Massachusetts. People want to learn why it happened and what caused it. There were many factors that led to the Salem witch trial hysteria in 1692. Many of the people wear mostly woman, therefore one of the causes was gender bias against women. According to John Demos, the author of "Underlying themes in witchcraft of 17th century new England" of the 134 accused, 110 were woman (B). Also, according to the Salem court records it shows 13 women were hung (A).
