In V.iii, Romeo says "You desperate pilot, let’s crash this sea-weary ship into the rocks! Here’s to my love!” This shows Romeo kills himself because he thinks Juliet's dead, and if Friar had gotten message to Romeo as planned, he would know Juliet is alive, but instead Romeo actually thought Juliet was dead, thus killing himself and later ending the feud. In V.iii, after finding out Romeo is dead Juliet says Juliet also says "I will kiss thy lips. /haply some poison yet doth hang on them to make me die with a restorative.” This explains that Juliet committed suicide, because she saw her lover Romeo dead. Also if the Friars plan had worked out, Romeo would have not died, and after that Juliet would not have died thus not ending the feud.
